How I rolled

My road bike was like a race horse being made to do cart horse work.
I'd found a rack that would fit on the carbon frame and attached a child seat to it but the need to tow the pushchair home on occasions was getting a bit silly.
Otto was also getting heavier and although nothing ever creaked or bent or snapped I knew that this wasn't going to last for long.

The seat is a CoPilot Limo. Highly recommended and easy to find second hand on eBay. The rack required for this seat is a Blackburn EX1 rack. It was made as a standard fitting or as a disc frame specific model with wider legs.
Although my road bike doesn't have discs it also doesn't have rack mounts. The disc mount rack attaches to the rear axle and comes with a longer skewer to do this. This allowed me to attach it securely to the carbon frame, and transfer weight directly to the wheel bypassing the carbon frame. The top of the rack attached to a seat clamp with rack mounts. This gave me the fixing points for the forward arms of the rack holding everything securely without clamping to the carbon frame.
