So after the gearbox locked up (Day 3 of it all going wrong) I took the gearbox apart and found that I had broken teeth off the sun gear, the planets and the ring gear.
I found a second hand gear box on eBay which I could take planets and a ring gear from. The axle for the drum brake gearbox variant is longer so I had to buy another back axle from SJS cycles
